Something For The Weekend

The Stiff All-Stars formed to play at the wedding of Dave Robinson, boss of legendary Indie, Stiff Records. Following Madness to debut in front of an audience including Ian Dury, Phil Lynott, Elvis Costello and Graham Parker & The Rumour, they stepped offstage to be offered a record contract by Chiswick Records. (Dave Robinson signed Madness).
Their first single, ‘Maybe Tonight’, was released on February 14, 1980, starting a 30-year odyssey of seized opportunities, singles releases, live gigs and personnel changes to arrive in 2010 at the release of their debut album ‘12.5 On A 10-Point Scale’.
Despite the tragic death of drummer Hugh Attwooll in 2007, the band reformed to record a new track ‘Something For The Weekend’ to finish off their album, released in May 2010, 30 years after their first single, a World Record for the longest time elapsing between first single release and album (according to MOJO magazine).
